City Government Tries to Overcome Budget Deficit

Jakarta Provincial Government is optimistic to reach the revenue target from central balanced fund post and local revenue on tax even though experiencing budget deficit up to Rp 12 trillion.

There are some budget posts missed the revenue target, from Rp 72.9 trillion down to Rp 60 trillion.

Jakarta Regional Secretary, Saefullah, admitted the city government can not meet the revenue target based on last two months calculation.

The Amount of the 2015 APBD Deemed Realistic

"The deficit is about Rp 12 trillion from our local budget," he said, Wednesday (11/5).

Posts with missed target are balanced fund as much as Rp 6 trillion, Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) project by Rp 2 trillion, and the rest is unrealized tax revenue by Rp 4 trillion.

This condition became reference for city government proposing 2015 budget. Previous proposal was Rp 81.5 trillion, but it changed to Rp 76 trillion.

Meanwhile, Head of Regional Income for Regional Management Board 9BPKD), Yulius Darmawijaya, claimed that city government is able to pursue the deficit Rp 12 trillion up to December 2014.

"We hope the central government could give us additional balanced fund to pursue that," he stated.

Moreover, he added, the city government will try to increase revenue from taxes and Local Revenue (PAD).
